Hi there, dear friends and family!

So let me tell you something (quite) funny. Two days ago, just like any other day, we had a nice day off after the great success of our high tea on Sunday. Courtney had planned to make us a lasagna, one of her mother's finest recipes, so we were really excited for that! Her and I walked up all the way to Harvest Market to get the final ingredients, one of the local organic grocery stores, which was a 3 mile walk. Back in the Weller House, Courtney started to make her lasagna, and she was standing for literally 2 hours in the kitchen! By the time she wanted to put it in the oven, around 8 pm, we heard an extremely loud BANG and all the lights suddenly went off in the house. Ofcourse we all thought the same: 'What the hell is going on??'. Well, it appeared to be a blackout, so all the power was off in Fort Bragg. But it was only our block and all the other streets north of Fort Bragg where there was total darkness. So bye bye lasagna and hello candlelight. As curious as we were, we sprinted up the Water Tower to have a good view of what's going on. I don't know if this was the first Blackout Fort Bragg's ever experienced, but the people went crazy! Really. CRAZY. Everybody got out on the streets, jumped in their cars and drove around to see what was happening. Police, Firefighters, all the people rushed out. It was so funny to see from up there. And it was weird to see that one part, the north, was in complete darkness, while the other part of town was full of light. After standing there for a while, we got back down again (it was freeeeezing) and decided to play a round of Yathzee in the hope of getting the power back anytime soon. Well, the game was fun (I won!) but no power yet. So Courtney, Jessica, Andrew and I decided to go to Piaci's to have some pizza instead. We took our Yathzee game with us and had a great evening at Piaci's, good pizza and fun! As we returned to the house, we noticed that the electricity was back on. So far the Blackout in Fort Bragg, haha.
Monday, yesterday, we did some work in the morning. At 4 pm, Jessica, Andrew and I went to the cinema to see The Hobbit. Awesome movie! To bad I have to wait a year now for part 2, because this becomes another of Peter Jackson's trilogies. Ah well, it's definitely worth it! At night we had our lasagna after all, it was so delicious, and Jessica and I started on the last season of Gossip Girl, hihi.

This morning we were early risers, because we had to be in Mendocino at 9 am for our very first Hot Yoga class! It's basicly a yoga class, but in a room that's heated up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (about 40 degrees Celsius). This should stimulate your blood flow even more while doing the yoga exercises. It was pretty tough at some points, but I really enjoyed it. Maybe when I am back home, I can go there to one of those classes.
Courtney left about two hours ago, sad to see her leave. At the end of the week Jessica and Andrew will also move on with their travelling, but Vivien said that new helpers will arrive very soon. Glad to hear that, because all the rooms will be occupied with guests during the Christmasseason :) Tonight hopefully Jessica will make her Mexican Chili, I am getting some food tasting from all around the world here ;)
For this weekend we don't have any reservations for the high tea, but next weekend we will have plenty of people coming (as I don't believe we're going to die tomorrow). It doesn't really matter to me, because there is always something to do here.

So hopefully you all feel 'updated' again, as always I was happy to write my daily adventures. Tonight we're going to get that fireplace going again, because it's starting to become wintery-cold out here!

Big hugs and kisses,

Charlotte

Hello dear friends and family! As you all know, I will be travelling through the USA the coming 5 months! I decided to keep an online diary, so you can all read my daily adventures I'm having back there. I would very much like if you would post a comment every now and then, so I know what you guys are up to back in Europe! This is hopefully an easy way to stay in touch with each other. Looking forward! Lots of love, Liefs, Alles Liebe, Charlotte
