Heya!
Here a blog from the place where it all started 4 months ago: Los Angeles. Yes, I'm back at the southern Californian coast. But this time I am not alone, because Emese is here with me. It's been almost a week now, that I am back with the Gilmers and it's great to be here again! They all are very happy to have us with them and I am greatful that they are hosting the both of us the last weeks that we are going to spend in the USA. Countdown is starting again, only 5 weeks until I am flying back home. But first lots of fun things that we want to do in and around LA. Our week in San Diego was by the way very nice. The weather could've been better, cloudy the most days, but we still did lots of shopping, we met up with our friend Lisa in downtown SD and we even hit the waves one day! At the beginning of this week we cycled to Venice Beach. It was a beautiful day and we were lucky that there was a biketrail all the way up north to Venice. That was a nice work-out too, because one way was 11.4 miles (approx. 18.34 kilometers). At Venice Beach we enjoyed our very first real 'merican Hot Dog and then we walked on the boardwalk. All kinds of people walking there, street musicians and also craaaaazy people. At one point that we were walking, I suddenly saw two people that looked very familiar. And yes, they appeared to be two actors from the tvseries GLEE! For those people who watch GLEE, they were Ryder (Blake Jenner) and Marley (Melissa Benoist). Omg, our first celebrity-spotting in LA! That was so much fun. The day after we took Mila to the park in the afternoon, she's such a sweetheart. And then yesterday was the day. We waited for 13 years for it to happen. Our childdreams came true again. We were so excited. Because yesterday was the day we went back to the happiest place on earth: DISNEYLAND! When Emese and I were both 6 years old, we were too small to go into some rides. But not anymore! We could finally go into rides like the Space Mountain and Indiana Jones Adventure. It was really hot during the day, because it's more land inwards than for example Manhattan Beach. We did have enough time, we spent the day there from 9 am in the morning until 10 pm at night, and John brought us and picked us up again. We went into almost all the rides, we saw little princesses, we saw the parade, we had dinner (were we spotted another actor from the series GLEE, omg it can only happen in LA) and the day ended with the beautiful fireworks above Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Today we have a relax-day, we only have to watch Mila in the afternoon and then we'll take a run. We've been running 6.5 kilometers every day here, so that's working out well. Excited for Saturday, it's Sain Patricks Day here and we'll go all together to a bbq of friends of the Gilmer family.
We are all doing fine here and we'll try to enjoy our final weeks here in America. It's nice to do all the things together with Emese and there are still more fun things planned! I don't have the feeling that I have 5 more weeks here, I more have the feeling that I am almost going home. It's going really fast now, also because LA is the final destination before I'm flying back. But I am excited to see my family and friends again.
Until then I wil try to send some sunshine over, I can see that winter's not over yet. Hang on there, Spring will come soon and I'll see you in a few weeks!

Nog "maar" 5 weken, ben super blij jou binnenkort weer te zien . Ondanks de eindeloze winter genieten we van de weekeinden, Antwerpen en nu Leiden, het kan erger. LU Mama -

Hoi lieve Charlotte,
zo te lezen heb je het nog steeds ontzettend naar je zin. Wat leuk dat je eindelijk alle rides in /Disneyland hebt kunnen doen. Welke was het stoerst?
Hier gaat alles zijn gangetje. Joep en ik vieren 13 april onze verjaardag. ?De ouders komen ook, gezellig.
Het is ontzettend koud en we snaken naar zon. Goed dat je net dit jaar hebt uitgekozen om te reizen want hier wordt iedereen depri van de kou.
Vandaag hebben we een 2e Paasbrunch gehad bij Peter en Marianne. Onder hun overkapping in de kou en het zonnetje was het toch erg lekker. Frisse lucht en zon, daar waren we aan toe.
Ik hoop dat de lente vol op is begonnen als jij weer terug bent.
Geniet van je laatste weken en tot snel ziens in het Nederlandse.

Ha lieve tante!!
Leuk om weer wat van de Engeltjes te horen. Mooi dat het zo goed met jullie gaat, hier ook nog steeds alles toppie! Disneyland was eindelijk een kinderdroom die helemaal in vervulling is gegaan, haha. De Space Mountain was erg leuk en ook de 'Indiana Jones Adventure', maar toch het leukste van allemaal was de Splash Mountain (de dag dat we gingen was het heel erg warm, land inwaards is het gemiddeld 10 graden warmer dan hier aan de kust, dus we waren blij dat we lekker konden afkoelen in de boomstammetjes). Wat ik vooral erg leuk vind aan Disneyland is de experience die ze je geven. Overal om je heen gebeuren er dingen en zelfs in de wachtrij hoef je je niet te vervelen. En natuurlijk de parade was weer erg mooi om te zien. Mocht allemaal ook wel voor de prijs dat het heeft gekost, hihi. Jammer dat ik er op 13 april niet bij kan zijn, vind het altijd zo gezellig op jullie verjaardagen met de hele familie. In ieder geval veel plezier die dag en we vieren het vast en zeker nog samen na ;)! Ik probeer wat zon jullie kant op te sturen, want nu mag het wel gedaan zijn met die koude, lange winter. Als je het zo bekijkt, heb ik inderdaad het goede moment uitgekozen om op reis te gaan. Ik hoop dat de lente al volop bij jullie begint VOORDAT ik terug ben, ik ga in ieder geval voor jullie duimen.
Ik ga zeker genieten, en hoop dat jullie dat ook doen!
