Another bright day today, our day-off to be exact, so Andy,Courtney, Jessica and I decided to go on the adventure to find the hot springs. We were so excited the last couple of days about going into Mendocino National Park and today, the most sunny day yet, was the perfect day for it. It was a long drive to the foot of the mountains, about two hours. Then the real adventure began. This was truly the most challenging, bumpy, steep, small, adventurous , funny and at the same time scary road we all ever went on. Courtney did a great job in riding up to the place were we could find the hot springs. These hot springs weren't part of a spa or welness centre, they were all natural. Only some people on the internet knew that they exist and according to them, they were found many years ago by 'accident'. We trusted on a description given on the internet and hoped to find them. We were the only humans on that road for another two hours up the hill. When we got at the very top, we had to leave the car and continue with hiking. The road didn't end, but the river probably broke out during the storm of a few weeks ago, that made it impossible to go any further with the car. The car by the way, Master Joda we called it, was together with Courtney our hero of the day. After half an hour hiking, we got to the river. We could allready sense the 'rotten egg' smell, which meant that we were very close to the hot springs. We had to climb rocks, take out our shoes and cross the ice-cold river with our bare feet. And there they were. Beside the river several 'boiling' little pools. And there we were. The only human beings in a range of miles and miles, right in the middle of nature next to a mountain river, surrounded by ice and sunshine and in the middle of Mendocino National Park California. Wauw. The hot springs were unfortunately too cold to get in, but that didn't really matter. It was great anyways.
The ride down was one hell of a ride too, bumpy and all haha. We saw the beautiful sunset and got down just before dark. The in total four-hour-drive back to Fort Bragg didn't feel as long as we thought.
We were satisfied and happy :)
Tomorrow back to work, but for now:
Goodmorning everbody!
And goodnight.

Heike:
