Hi dear blogees!
Sorry, long time no blog. After a quiet period at the Weller House, this weekend all the guestrooms were occupied again. So that meant: work, work, work! But before that, it were a nice two weeks of just hanging out, going for walks, enjoying the company and lots of baking with Angelika! Here some examples of the different baking we did:
- Orange Chocolate Marble Cake
- Lemon yoghurt Cake
- Buttermilk Cinnamon Coffee Cake
- Scones
- Madeleines
- Morning Glory Muffins
- Shortbread
AND MANY MORE.
Don't worry, we didn't eat it all by ourselves. It was usually test-baking for the high tea we did this weekend and most of the times we served it for desert. It was lots of fun to do it, haha! Next to the baking we did some trips as well in those two weeks. For example Brian, Alex (Brian's girlfriend), Angelika and I went one afternoon to the Point Cabrillo Light House, which was located just between Fort Bragg and Caspar. It was such a beautiful sunny day, and we experienced an amazing sunset at the Light House. Also at one moment the keeper of the lighthouse stormed outside and told us that the whales were migrating to the south and that we could see them. And we did see some whales, that was awesome! If you were patient enough, you could see every 10-20 seconds some puffs coming up the water from about 1 km distance off the coast. Sometimes you could even see their backs, as they came a little bit out of the water. Not only did I see whales during my stay here in California, I also saw lots of different bird species, including a hummingbird (kolibri). I was so excited when I saw the hummingbird, but appareantly here it is totally normal to see them flying around, haha.
Five days ago, Emese arrived at the Weller House! It's so great to have my best friend here, you just have always someone to talk to and the fact that we can travel together is fantastic! She really likes it here and she can get along with all guests, Vivien and the other helpers. Saturday and sunday we had a big crabfeast-dinner at the B&B, delicious! Last weekend and next weekend are known here as the Annual Wine and Crab Days of Mendocino County. Now everywhere in this area you can go for winetasting, crabmeals, cook-offs , galeries and many more! This is THE crabseason at the Northern Coast of California.
Next to that we are enthusiasticly planning our trip through California. The plan is now as follows: San Francisco, National Parks near Redding&Sacramento, Las Vegas + Death Valley, Highway 1 roadtrip, Party @ Berkeley, Going south to San Diego and finally ending our trip in Manhattan Beach , LA! We are sooo excited for San Francisco right now, heard many great things about it. We are actively looking for accommodation, car rentals, buses, flights, sightseeing-highlights, restaurants, etc. So if you have any friends/family/relatives living near San Francisco who would be happy to host us, that would be wonderful. Looking for all this information is too part of the fun ;)
Time is going fast. Only 7 more days here at the Weller House. That means that I have allready been here for 2 months. Wow. But first things first, we have to plan a big birthday party for saturday the 26th. It's both Emeses and Viviens birthday on that day! Fun!
Today almost all the guests are checking out and we are going for a long walk along the coast. Yes, it is 17 degrees Celsius here (in freakin' January!!!) and sunny, time to go out and enjoy the nice weather. Tomorrow we will probably head towards the cinema, it's Matinee Tuesday, all movies for only $6,50, yeaaah.
Again sorry for the long blog-pause, but I will definitely try writing as much as I can.

Volgens mij heb je een geweldige tijd in USA, een prachtige natuur en heerlijk weer.
Wij zitten hier met kou en sneeuw en gladde wegen.
Ik kom alleen maar buiten voor de boodschappen.
Nog bedankt voor je brief met dat lekkere recept, ik heb het nog niet gemaakt, maar wel de inhoudsmaten naar de nederlandse gewichten vertaald
Afgelopen week is het mij gelukt om met Max te skypen dus zal het ook wel een keer met jou lukken.

Hoi Charlotte,
Ik lees dat je het super naar je zin hebt. Heerlijk om een reis te plannen. Hoe lang blijven jullie 'on tour'? Naar welke NP's gaan jullie. Neem je Yosemite of Sequoia NP of beide? De reuzebomen zijn echt giga indrukwekkend. Wat gaaf dat jullie walvissen hebben geien. Staat bij ons ook nog steeds op een wensenlijstje maar wij zaten in het verkeerde seizoen. Heeft pap of mam al verteld dat we graag iets van je ontvangen? Zou stoer zijn als het lukt. Je kunt het mailen of via bv we transfer mailen naar ons. Dan maken wij er een mooi geheel van. Meer kan ik niet schrijven want je weet wel leest ook je blogs....:)
O ja hier gaat alles goed. Ben vandaag met Pim naar mbo opleidingen geweest en hij is vooral enthousiast over opleidingen binnen defensie. En anders wordt het waarschijnlijk een technische opleiding.
Met Joep gaan we in maart naar de Hoge Hotelschool, International Business en de KMA. Hoe divers kun je zijn?
Geiet nog ontzettend van je reis. Heel veel liefs uit Sittard.
