Holiday High Tea at the Weller House

Good-Good-day!
Today was our first Holiday Tea at the Weller House. We could all sleep in this morning, sort of, and then we were ready to go for the high tea! We all needed our sleep, because we (Jessica, Andrew, Bryan a.k.a. Pooky, Jesi and I) went to a live-music-bar last night. We danced. We played pool. We had amber-beer. We won stuffed animals. It was great fun! And yes there we were this morning, fresh and ready for some baking and cooking. Lots of things were allready done the day before, such as a lot of the baking (brownies, cookies, cakes, lemon curd, etc.) as well as cooking (eggs, quiche-shells, whipped cream). However, that wasn't all, so today we made the fresh courses (butters, sandwiches, quiches, scones). There was a lot going on in the kitchen and it was exciting (and a little bit scary) to see the first guests arrive at 2 pm. The evening before, Vivien and I went through some plates and silvery (which took us forever to polish), to set a beautiful high tea-table today. The perfect oppurtunity to all dress up, since we were to present the' traditional home made english high tea with a holiday twist' to our guests. The tea from the Mendocino Tea Company that we served today was amazing, we had such flavours as 'Lavender Earl Grey' and 'Sweet Jasmine', brilliant combinations. Everything went so smooth, the guests were ejoying their time and loving the food. You could tell by how soon the plates were empty, haha! And of course, back in the kitchen, we were enjoying a little bit of it too. Ginger-Currant/Lavender-Lemon Scones,the Battenberg Cake, my Dutch Sand Cookies, Egg-salad/Cucumber mint sandwiches, not to forget the mini quiches and many more, all delicious! At the end the guests were totally amazed by our holiday high tea. One of the ladies said that she'd been to 162 tea-houses and that this was the one that was worth taken pictures of and even spreading the word to everyone she knows. And on top of that, we even got tips! Vivien was great too today, and she thanked us for pulling this off. I'm stuffed now though, too much food, haha. Next week I will prepare the tea with Vivien and one other helper, so a little less help than today, but that's okay because we've prepared lots of it allready and once you've done it, it will become easier by time.
We did work lots of hours the last couple of days, so tomorrow a relaxation-day for us. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to spend the day outside!
Tuesday we'll go to The Hobbit together in Fort Bragg's one and only cinema, it's mad-tuesday, so only 4$ per ticket (in that way we can spend more on our popcorn). Wednesday Jessica, Courtney and I will join a hot-yoga class (wondering how that will be) and Jessica promised us to make a mexican chili a la Jessica. Oh and I am working on my own recipe-collection of all the great recipes I found and tried out while in the States.
That said, an other week of fun is about to start!

Ik heb net jouw verslag gelezen en de foto's bekeken. Het ziet er geweldig uit. Het eten, het servies, maar jullie komen op de eerste plaats. Gaan jullie de foto's naar de plaatselijke krant sturen? Veel plezier met de tweede high tea. Ziet er beter uit dan bij de Pelikaan, en dat is zeker als kompliment bedoeld!!!
Wij hebben gisteren Skyfall gezien, de Hobbit staat nog op de verlanglijst, misschien in de kerstvakantie. Deze week nog even de schouders eronder en dan eindelijk vakantie!!!!!
Woendag ga ik naar oma Doris. Cees is twee dagen in Dordrecht op cursus. Donderdag heb ik een kersteten met de ISK, Cees heeft vrijdag de kerstborrel....wat hebben we het toch zwaar, haha.
Veel plezier met de Yoga (wat is hot yoga????). Raak niet in de knoop. Liefs uit Nijmegen, ik rij nu richting Apeldoorn, op de naar de volgende les. Dikke knuffel, xxx Karen -

Hee Mama!
Het zou wel een goede marketing-zet zijn, als we het naar de krant sturen! Volgens Vivien werkt dat niet, omdat ze weigeren reclame te maken als het niet voor een goed doel is, echt raar.. haha.Ja we hebben ons best gedaan voor de hele aankleding, mooi dat het ook te zien in op de foto's. Lief compliment van je! Het was in ieder geval origineler en het assortiment was groter dan bij de Pelikaan. En natuurlijk alles door ons gebakken/gemaakt ;) Hoe was Skyfall? Want van de meesten hoor ik dat het een aardig goede bond-film is. Vakantie klinkt goed, tijdens de feestdagen moet je ook gewoon lekker vrij zijn en kunnen relaxen. Jullie hebben het heeeeel erg zwaar, zoals ik zie, haha. Fijn dat jullie zo veel samen en individueel ondernemen, dat maakt mij ook blij :) Hot Yoga, is een yoga-klas waar je de oefeningen doet in een ruimte van bijna 40 graden! Jessica deed dat voordat ze hier kwam, en nu krijgt ze weer last van haar gewrichten en gaan we dus samen naar zo'n klasje toe. Schijnt volgens haar goed te werken, ik ben gewoon heel nieuwsgierig :P Ik hoop dat je dag goed ging. Ik ben in ieder geval erg blij met de kaarten van de oma's die vandaag zijn binnengekomen, ik ga ze nog bedanken. Courtney en ik zijn vandaag een heel eind gaan wandelen, want het weer was prachtig.
Slaap lekker en spreek je gauw!
